At the 5th Atelier de Iluminação Lighting Seminar, Raul Campião, Latin America General Manager at Nichia America, presented technologies that are transforming the possibilities of general lighting.
The evolution of lighting has been driven not only by increased efficiency, but also by the pursuit of increasingly precise and versatile solutions capable of responding to different needs. This was one of the key points addressed by Raul Campião, Latin America General Manager at Nichia America, during the 5th Atelier de Iluminação Lighting Seminar, which focused on “Technological Trends in the Lighting Market.”
Throughout the presentation, Raul Campião showed how LED development has been expanding the possibilities for controlling light, from the evolution of white LEDs and spectral characteristics to new applications that bring together lighting, technology, and different usage demands. Another direction presented was the use of light beyond conventional illumination. The technology of an LED with a dual function for general lighting and disinfection demonstrates how advances in components can create opportunities for new applications and functionalities.
The presentation also highlighted solutions focused on street lighting and sustainability, such as the 1800K light source, developed as an alternative to high-pressure sodium lamps (HPS). In terms of performance, advances in high luminance also emerged as one of the key areas of development. The presentation also introduced white laser light technologies, with sources capable of achieving approximately ten times the brightness of conventional LEDs, expanding possibilities for applications that require high luminous intensity.
Finally, the presentation pointed toward a future in which the light source itself can take on new functions. Among the examples presented were systems based on micro-LEDs, with thousands of small emitters arranged at high density and capable of projecting letters and illustrations, indicating new possibilities for the control and application of light.
More than simply keeping pace with the evolution of components, understanding these technologies means anticipating the transformations they can bring to lighting projects. Technology expands the vocabulary of light. And with it, the possibilities for creating increasingly precise experiences, solutions, and spaces.
